A web-based directory should be a hub linking all the sites listed in the directory. This means that a studio with a web site should have that web site address available to all users, not just the ones who decide to pay. Our competitors all seem to think that web site and phone information is priveleged.
With web addresses visible to the world, search engines can find your site through ours, and it will improve your search engine status. With our studio listings, our users do not need a PayPal account to get your phone number or to send you an email.
As a studio owner, you want your listing to improve your business. So do we! Your contact information will always be publicly available, and our links to your web site will always be active.
As a user, your membership on this site is free. We encourage you to add any studio we might have missed, to rate the studios you are familiar with, to post comments telling other of your experiences, and to encourage others to do the same.
Anybody!
To post new content, simply create and verify an account on bodymod.ca. Basic site membership is free. Blogging is also available to those who wish to wax creative.
Registration as a user is free! In the left sidebar, choose "Create new account" and follow the directions.
After you have registered, an email will be sent to the address you provided for your account, to confirm that you are really at that address. When you receive the registration email, simply click on the link provided, and you will be a member. The link will take you to your account page. Please make sure you have a suitable password before proceeding into the site. We enforce a minimum password length of 6 characters, but we recommend a minimum of 8 to 10 characters.
To keep this site as complete as possible, we permit anyone to notify us of any studio we have missed, and which they feel is deserving of mention. Whoever creates the post is the sole owner of the post, unless we intervene.
If someone has created a listing for your studio, create your own account on bodymod.ca if you do not already have one, and let us know your user name, and the studio listing you wish to claim using our contact form. We will confirm with you, usually by phone, and assign the listing to you once we have contacted you.
Yes. Each listing is dedicated to a single location. Simply create a separate listing for each studio location.
- Studio
- If you are a studio owner, you may upgrade your studio listing(s) to include additional information, and a map showing your studio location. First, become a registered user of our site, then create or claim your studio listing(s). Once you are in control of the listing(s), you may upgrade it to be listed at the top of our studio lists, and to include additional information and a map showing the studio location(s). If your artists have created portfolio pages on our site, then a list of your artists will also appear on your premium studio page, as links to those portfolios. If you own several studios, one payment will upgrade all of your locations. If you have already claimed your listings, you can upgrade your listings now.
- Artist
- As an artist, you are able to create an Artist listing which will allow you to post a description of you and your work, and to provide our users with a portfolio of your best work. Once you have created your listing, you will be given the option of visiting PayPal to publish it. The subscription cost is less than you would spend on coffee in a day, and you are in total control of your own listing. If you change studios in the future, simply return and change the studio in your listing. You can change the text and update your photos at any time.
It does not matter what user name you choose. The title of your Artist page should be your own name.
Each time you arrive at our site, the forms you are presented will have a CAPTCHA image attached to them. To submit the form, simply copy the letters shown into the box provided, and the form will submit.
We do this to prevent automated form submissions from spammers, which have become a major headache for site administrators in recent years.
Once you have successfully answered a CAPTCHA challenge, you will not be presented with any more during your session.
Your donations will help us keep BodyMod.ca up and running. Please support us to the best of your ability.

Perhaps the most difficult question to answer, making a wise choice about the studio you visit is the most important decision you will make. Do your research.
- How long has the shop been established?
- What experiences have others had?
- Check with your local Health Board.
Then visit the shop. This is not a walk-in to have work done! You are going to visit other shops and compare.
- Is the studio clean and confortable?
- Is the staff friendly and knowledgeable?
- Do they have a good selection for you to choose from?
- Are they willing to walk you through the shop to show how they do things?
When you make your decision, do not consider price until you have eliminated every shop you are not comfortable with. Indeed, in most cases, you will find that the level of service drops dramatically with the price. To charge less, discounting shops must eliminate expenses, and in most cases the items they eliminate will ultimately mean a degradation of the quality of your work.
Take your time. Particularily with Personal Services which will have permanent or semi-permanent results, do not skimp on the care you exercise in your choice.
