Roger (Blackstar) has been doing body piercing since 1982. A biochemist, he has been responsible for development and refinement of many of the piercing techniques in common use today. He also developed the first public health protocols for piercing studios, originally for the Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton, which were later adopted by the Regional Municipality of Waterloo and the Greater Toronto Area. These protocols formed the basis of the 1998 Guidelines for Personal Service Workers in Ontario.

Roger has been providing high quality piercing services to Eastern Ontario and upstate New York since 1994 from his studio in Kingston, Ontario. His apprenticeship program (2 years) is second to none, and many fine piercers received their training from Blackstar.
